SLK is Selkirk’s budget friendly mid-market brand. Despite it being their budget friendly brand, it offers some of Selkirk’s best paddles. Selkirk likes to use their SLK brand to follow market trends and sometimes the market trends are the best designs for paddles at the moment. This paddle is thermoformed for extra stability and a boost in power, has foam injected edge for comfort and stability, and then has a 14mm core paired with a carbon/kevlar weaved face.

This is an all-court style paddle that leans toward the power side. While it’s standard shape counter part has a stiffer feel to it this one feels more pleasant and is easier to connect with. It has a very long handle at 5.75″ though it feels longer than that. Some players will love the extra extended handle while others will wish it was a little shorter.

Our Review

Of the two Halo Pro models, this one was my favorite. It had good offensive ability but I still liked the impact feel and felt the sweet spot was pretty good for a 14mm elongated paddle. It’s not a huge sweet spot, but it’s big enough it doesn’t hamper you. You had the power needed to apply pressure and finish points and the extended handle felt comfortable for my two handed shots. I could even squeeze two full hands on there without putting a finger behind the paddle if I wanted. The extended handle could be an issue for players who don’t use two handed shots since it’s very long and eats meaningful surface area from the face. If I had my choice I would have left it at 5.5″ so it would be usable by a larger audience.

While it’s not a control paddle I did find it to be one of the easier paddles in the all-court space to control. It had a pleasant feel to it that was slightly stiff and offered good feedback on shots to help you dial in your feel for the soft game. It has a higher swingweight at 120, particularly high when considering it’s a 14mm, but I actually like that. It’s easy for 14mm paddles to get pushed around because they are naturally lighter with less material. So if you don’t intentionally add weight to it then it can feel flimsy. This paddle doesn’t feel flimsy. I like the balance of it, they did a good job there. It’s not a fast paddle as a result but it generally plays better and I’ll take the trade off.

Limited 1-Year Warranty
SLK pickleball paddles are guaranteed against workmanship and manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable to anyone beyond the original purchaser.

What’s Covered and What’s Not
Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship are covered for 1 year from the date of purchase. Normal wear and tear, damage caused by hits to the ground, abuse, negligence or user modification, as well as natural breakdown or fading of graphics over extended use are not covered.

Miscellaneous
This warranty is available for SLK pickleball paddles in the United States only. SLK holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered under our limited warranty. SLK has the sole discretion to determine whether to replace or repair a paddle covered under our limited warranty. SLK has the sole discretion on replacement paddles when the original paddle has been discontinued. Replacement paddles will not carry any similar warranty.
