SLK is Selkirk’s budget friendly mid-market brand. Despite it being their budget friendly brand, it offers some of Selkirk’s best paddles. Selkirk likes to use their SLK brand to follow market trends and sometimes the market trends are the best designs for paddles at the moment. This paddle is thermoformed for extra stability and a boost in power, has foam injected edge for comfort and stability, and then has a 14mm core paired with a carbon/kevlar weaved face.

This is an all-court style paddle that plays forgiving and has some good pop on it to finish points. It’s also very light and maneuverable with its low average static weight below 8 ounces and low swingweight of 108. Additionally, it has a shorter handle at 4.85″. You don’t see shorter handles like this too often anymore so if you don’t use any two handed shots then you’ll appreciate the shorter handle and extra surface real estate on the paddle surface.

Our Review

Selkirk followed the market trends with their Halo Pro series and I’m glad they did, because it plays well and competes with the sea of all-court paddles out there. I think the intent with this series was to make something offensive and fast. They went with a thinner core paired with thermoforming to produce some power, pop, and maneuverability and that’s what it gives you. Then when you pair that with the wider nature of a standard shape you get some good forgiveness to go along with it.

The spin was good as well with my spin tests putting in the mid 1900s. This is a nice jump up from their past model Halo paddles. The paddle does have a firmer feel which some like and some don’t. The firmer feel offers more feedback but you do feel some vibrations on mishits near the top. For this reason I liked the paddle more with some added weight using tungsten tape on the top corners. This helped reduce the vibrations I felt there and gave the paddle a little extra plowthrough that was nice to have on drives and dinks so the paddle didn’t feel so flimsy.

Limited 1-Year Warranty
SLK pickleball paddles are guaranteed against workmanship and manufacturing defects for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable to anyone beyond the original purchaser.

What’s Covered and What’s Not
Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship are covered for 1 year from the date of purchase. Normal wear and tear, damage caused by hits to the ground, abuse, negligence or user modification, as well as natural breakdown or fading of graphics over extended use are not covered.

Miscellaneous
This warranty is available for SLK pickleball paddles in the United States only. SLK holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered under our limited warranty. SLK has the sole discretion to determine whether to replace or repair a paddle covered under our limited warranty. SLK has the sole discretion on replacement paddles when the original paddle has been discontinued. Replacement paddles will not carry any similar warranty.
