The Pro IV series is an update from their 3S models. They added some extra foam in the throat area which helped improve the weight balance, reduce vibrations, and generally give it a more comfortable feel vs the harsher, hollow feeling of the 3S models. This series remains as one of the big power paddles available with their combination of forgiveness and power.

This paddle comes in two thicknesses: 16mm and 14mm. The 16mm offers immediate power, while the 14mm requires slightly more effort to access power, making it easier to control. The 16mm is also more forgiving and less firm than the 14mm. While the 14mm offers better control and slightly reduced weight, most players will likely prefer the 16mm option for the added forgiveness and feel.

Specialized foam injected into the perimeter of the paddle adding weight and stability, increasing the sweet spot for consistent edge to edge performance.

Propulsion Core
A second ring of foam that surrounds the top two thirds of the paddle that flexes and adds power.

A pocket of foam added near the throat area that improves weight distribution and feel.

Our Review

The previous 3S model of the Perseus had significant power, but its head-heavy design and harsh, hollow feel were drawbacks. The updated Pro IV model addresses these issues by adding foam in the throat to reduce vibrations and provide a more comfortable feel, while remaining on the stiffer side of paddles overall. Most importantly, the Pro IV model is several swingweight points lighter than the 3S, making it noticeably lighter and easier to maneuver, with added potential for customization using tungsten tape.

JOOLA continues to lead in power with this series, offering a combination of power and forgiveness that surpasses competitors. If you’re seeking the best big power paddle available, this is currently the top choice. While it is expensive, other brands have yet to match its power and forgiveness at a lower price point.

I wouldn’t recommend this paddle to everyone because it’s so powerful. To effectively control and use this power, you need to be a more advanced player, live in a very hot climate, or be someone who struggles to generate power.

This paddle is offered in a 16mm and 14mm option. The 16mm offers more immediate power while the 14mm requires a little more effort to access the power which makes the 14mm easier to control. Most players will prefer the 16mm I would imagine though the 14mm has its benefits of the better control and slightly reduced weight.

Manufacturer Warranty

Joola paddles are guaranteed against workmanship and manufacturer defects for 6 months from purchase with activation of warranty through the registering of the paddle (at bottom of page) with Joola. Paddles should be registered within the first 14-days of purchase. The warranty is not transferable after registration and only applies to the original owner. 

What is not covered by the warranty? 

  • Normal wear and tear, abuse and negligence. This includes the grip, edge or edge guard and face materials.
  • Any modifications made to the paddle.
  • Fading of graphics.
  • Hitting other objects (other than the pickleball) such as the ground or other paddles (this can weaken the paddle or loosen the trim).
  • Not being the original purchaser.
  • Used in commercial applications or rentals.

Joola holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered under warranty. Replacement paddles are not covered under warranty.
