Gearbox really put themselves on the map with their CX14 series. And now it’s back with a boost of power. The CX14E Ultimate Power still maintains the same identity of the original series with it’s fast, thin, edgeless design and great spin but with more offensive options from the extra pop you get. Gearbox packs their paddles with technology that isn’t matched by any other brand. Their unique carbon fiber core gives the paddles extended life and won’t break down on you like polymer core paddles will. Additionally, their Solid Span Technology adds spin to the ball from the core rather than solely relying on grit. Giving the paddle more spin potential for a longer period of time compared to nearly all other brands that rely on surface grit for adding spin.
The CX14E has an elongated shape while their CX14H has a standard shape. The only difference between the two models is the shape of the paddle. The CX14E’s elongated shape gives you more reach and a little more power compared to the standard version but it is a little less forgiving from side to side compared to the CX14H.
Gearbox offers these in two grip sizes but we only carry the larger 3 15/16″ size.
Gearbox technology:
Solid Span Technology (SST): An advanced proprietary molding process to form a carbon fiber ribbed core and one-piece molded construction.
Power Band: The paddle’s patented SST core is detached and suspended from the perimeter of the paddle, giving the paddle more of a trampoline effect that increases power.
3K Woven Carbon Fiber: The CX collection is crafted with high-grade 3K woven carbon fiber on both the face and perimeter of the paddle.
Hyper-bite Spin 2.0: Hyper-bite 2.0 describes a system where various components come together which include the ribbed SST core, 3k woven carbon fiber, and a top urethane face coat that all contribute to giving the paddle maximum spin.
Upgraded Edgeless Frame: More material has been pushed out to the edges of the paddle and more plys of carbon fiber were added to the frame or edge of the paddle itself. This gives the paddle more perimeter weighting to increase the size of the sweet spot and add stability.
