This performance pickleball paddle is crafted with the same durable, gritty carbon fiber face that you can expect from CRBN, but with additional power and pop. The CRBN power series follows the footsteps of CRBN’s popular control series. For a 16 mm thick paddle, this thing hits pretty hard but its thicker core gives you great stability, forgiveness and the ability to slow the ball down when you need to. This combination truly gives it a nice blend of power and control that you don’t get from many paddles, especially carbon fiber paddles.

The CRBN 1X features their elongated shape with an extra long handle.

Our Review

There is a lot to like about the new CRBN X Power Series. Lots of people will like these though they aren’t perfect for everyone.

These fall squarely in the all-court category. Though every brand says their paddles are the perfect blend of power and control, these actually are.

The CRBN 1X hits pretty hard for a 16mm paddle, it gives you more offensive options than their original control series. Counters are stronger, drives are more effective, and you can hit your serves deep with some dip.

One complaint I had about the original CRBN 1 is that it had a tighter sweet spot compared to other raw carbon paddles out there. They fixed that with this series, though. THe 1X has a noticeably better sweet spot and I had less unforced errors because of it.

Its bigger sweet spot, big spin, and stable nature of its 16mm core are what make it more controllable compared to many 14mm paddles that have the same amount of power. However, it has a unique, stiffer feel to it that isn’t as plush and easy to connect with as their original control series. It takes a solid week or two to get used to the new feel, but once you do, it can be controlled just as well as the original control series. That’s if you have a developed soft game already. If you are someone who is prone to popping the ball up then this paddle will not help your soft game.

The paddle is also slightly head heavy. So if you don’t like heavier paddles then this may not be the paddle for you. However, if you’re looking for more power and spin but still want the benefits of a 16mm core then this is a great option.

The bottom line: The CRBN 1X 16mm is a great all-court paddle with a lot to like about it. It’s on the heavier side though and it takes time to get used to its stiffer feel.

Manufacturer Warranty

CRBN paddles are guaranteed against workmanship and manufacturer defects for 120 days from purchase with activation of warranty through the registering of the paddle with CRBN. Paddles should be registered within the first 14-days of purchase. The warranty is not transferable after registration and only applies to the original owner. 

What is not covered by the warranty? 

  • Normal wear and tear, abuse and negligence. This includes the grip, edge or edge guard and face materials.
  • Any modifications made to the paddle.
  • Fading of graphics.
  • Hitting other objects (other than the pickleball) such as the ground or other paddles (this can weaken the paddle or loosen the trim).
  • Not being the original purchaser.
  • Used in commercial applications or rentals.

CRBN holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered under warranty. Replacement paddles are not covered under warranty.
