Our Review

Of the three shapes in the TruFoam Genesis series, this one was my favorite. It was the most forgiving and easiest to maneuver. Its average swingweight of 112 is slightly higher than most 14mm paddles, which I appreciated. Many 14mm widebody shapes like this one are too light and lack the plowthrough to carry through the ball; this one did not. The added weight also improved its stock forgiveness compared to other 14mm widebody paddles. However, it doesn’t have a massive sweet spot and is a bit less maneuverable compared to other widebody paddles.

The paddle offers above average power from the baseline and good pop at the net. I’d categorize it as an aggressive all-court paddle. The widebody shape provides better maneuverability and net play than the elongated versions in the series, compensating for the slight loss in reach. You could swing freely on serves and from the baseline because it wasn’t overly powerful, but then didn’t have to overswing at the net to finish points and hit effective counters.

The paddle’s standout feature is the pleasant, intuitive feel provided by the foam core, which is distinct from the slightly stiffer feel of a traditional polymer honeycomb core. Additionally, foam is known for its superior durability and immunity to issues like core crush that can affect polymer honeycomb paddles.

Manufacturer Warranty

CRBN has a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects and workmanship of the paddle. Warranty is non-transferable and only valid to the original purchaser.

What is not covered by the warranty? 

  • Normal wear and tear, abuse and negligence. This includes the grip, edge or edge guard and face materials.
  • Any modifications made to the paddle.
  • Fading of graphics.
  • Hitting other objects (other than the pickleball) such as the ground or other paddles (this can weaken the paddle or loosen the trim).
  • Not being the original purchaser.
  • Used in commercial applications or rentals.

CRBN holds the sole discretion to determine whether a damaged paddle is covered under warranty. Replacement paddles are not covered under warranty.
