JOOLA has long been the gold standard for power paddles, but I think the GX2 Power out performs it. Power paddles for years have felt stiff and poppy, which helps with counters and putaways but can make it hard to find control or feel connected to the ball. This paddle flips that script. It offers a rare mix of pop and pocketing, the ball sinks into the face more than any other power paddle I’ve tested, yet it still fires off quickly on counters and volleys.
That extra dwell time made a big difference in my soft game. I was able to absorb pace and drop blocks with precision, something I usually struggle with using high-power paddles. It’s one of the first power paddles that let me play big without sacrificing feel.
That said, the added dwell can come with a learning curve. On drives and topspin rolls, I had to be more intentional about keeping the ball low or it would float a little higher than I wanted.
Power and pop are right up there with the JOOLA Pro IV series. Spin and shot shaping were excellent from the baseline and midcourt, though I noticed a slight drop-off in spin at the kitchen when the ball was moving slower and the paddle didn’t pocket as much.

The LAZR-16X Full Foam is probably a paddle you haven’t heard of, but that’s exactly why you come to my list, and it’s absolutely earned its spot here.
It’s the most approachable power paddle I’ve tested. It sits on the lower end of the power spectrum, and that’s exactly why it stands out. While many new power paddles are pushing the offensive ceiling, this one intentionally dials it back slightly for more control while still clearly living in the power category. That makes it a strong fit for a wide range of skill levels.
The power and pop are in a nice sweet spot. There’s enough to stay dangerous, but not so much that you need pro-level mechanics to control it. You can swing more freely on drives, and your form doesn’t have to be perfect on speed-ups or resets to get the result you want.
It uses a floating foam core and has a unique feel. There’s a bit of crispness and slight hollowness that provides good feedback without feeling harsh, and it still dampens vibration well. You also get the durability benefits that come with a foam core build.

Power and pop both sit in the mid-90th percentile, yet it’s more playable than you’d expect. The foam adds just enough dwell to make resets and blocks manageable.
