The Mach 1 Forza stands out among thermoformed paddles, though I didn’t always think this. While some thermoformed paddles have struggled with delamination issues and a decline in power throughout the year, Volair has managed to create a paddle that maintains the original appeal of thermoformed paddles: excellent power, forgiveness, and spin. The Mach 1 Forza delivers power without being overwhelming or overly springy, resulting in a good all-court paddle.

True to most thermoformed paddles, the Mach 1 Forza has a stiffer feel. Although there are thermoformed paddles that offer a slightly less rigid sensation, they often sacrifice the power that the Mach 1 Forza provides. Furthermore, the paddle has a lighter swingweight of 117 for paddle with its longer shape, allowing for customization with lead tape if desired, although it is not necessary due to the paddle’s inherent qualities.

The paddle’s appealing design, featuring a curved top and gradient logo, adds to the overall appeal of the paddle. Additionally, the Mach 1 Forza maintains an attractive price point, avoiding the price hikes often seen when brands gain popularity. The paddle is accompanied by a high-quality box, including a paddle eraser and an extra grip, enhancing the sense of value in the purchase.

The paddle was awarded silver instead of gold due to its lack of a unique value proposition and the fact it followed the thermoformed train rather then being one of the first. However, it excels above many other thermoformed paddles.

Lastly, the paddle comes in a 16mm and 14mm option. The 16mm is more forgiving and absorbs pace better on resets while the 14mm is lighter and poppier though it gives up some forgiveness. Picking between the two depends on your priorities. 

The bottom line: This paddle does everything well and can fit many playstyles. The only reason you may not want it is because of its stiffer feel or its not offered in your preferred shape.
