The Spartus Apollo’s stats tell the story well for this paddle. It’s very lightweight, very forgiving, and is a pure control paddle. It absorbs pace off the ball well for you and helps reduce errors with its forgiving, large sweet spot. 

You can swing big with this paddle and your technique doesn’t have to be perfect to get a good result. It doesn’t generate much power or pop for you but it’s great spin and control enable you to find angles and put pressure on your opponent in other ways. It shines most at the net when you’re dinking and working the point. The paddle’s fast nature helps you get to more balls whether you’re being attacked and engage in hand battles or are stretched out for a dink. You won’t find as much success attacking from the backcourt or midcourt with this but you will find it easier to drop the ball in and get to the net.

It’s a widebody paddle with a semi long handle which is a combo I love to see and has only started getting popular mid 2024. Widebody paddles are naturally less powerful and the longer handle gives the paddle some leverage for overheads and volleys to finish points when you need to. You lose some reach with this shape but you gain hand speed and forgiveness. It’s a tradeoff that benefits you more than it takes for most players.

While it’s very light and easy to manuver, it can be too light for some players but it’s always easier to add weight than it is to take away. So if you find that it’s too light and doesn’t carry through the ball well enough for you then adding some tungsten tape to the sides of the paddle will correct that.

The bottom line: This is a very player friendly paddle that enhances your control and is easy to pick up and play. If you need help getting the ball down or play a control style game then you’ll like this one.
