JOOLA wasn’t the first make a thermoformed paddle but they managed to do it a bit differently than everyone else.

Thermoformed paddles generally are a bit heavier and offer a good amount of power. But JOOLA somehow made one that didn’t feel so stiff and was lighter. It has the most pleasant feel of any other thermoformed paddle we’ve played and it’s better maneuverability is quickly noticed. For an elongated shape, it has very low swingweight of 117 which isn’t something that’s been achieved by another thermoformed paddle.

Though thermoformed paddles typically fall into the all-court category, this one falls into the control category. Though it’s in the control category it offers more power and offense than other paddles in this category.

The one downside to the paddle is its lower forgiveness rating. While thermoformed paddles are typically very forgiving, this one isn’t as forgiving. The sweet spot size isn’t the worst but if you are a lower level player then you’ll notice the sweet spot is smaller, though if you’re a higher level player then you won’t notice it much.

The bottom line: The JOOLA Perseus 16mm is a unique thermoformed paddle that offers more control and maneuverability than others though it comes at a sacrifice of a tighter sweet spot.
